A More Masculine Valentine

This card was made with as little frou-frou as I could leave out.  A clean and well, not entirely, simple Valentine that's perfect for the man in your life.

  • Hearts a Flutter stamp set and the coordinating Framelits make this card a snap to create!
  • The Chevron Embossing Folder adds a modern and more masculine touch and brings textural interest to the monochromatic scheme
  • One pop of red shows what it's really all about - Love.  Use the perfectly coordinated Itty Bitties stamp set and Designer Builder Brads to create this look

Love is in the Air this Week

I've got a collection of Valentine cards to show you this week showcasing products from the Spring Catalog.

This card is my "ultra" romance card.  I combined many elements to give it a distinctly feminine, French-inspired look.

  • More Amore Designer Series Paper (129309) is the background strip, and the drapey heart border is created by snipping out between the beautiful die cut doily hearts (also part of the More Amore Designer Series Paper)
  • The always romantic Eiffel Tower and surrounding images are stamped using the Collage Curios Stamp Set (129099)
  • The Soda Pop Top (129388) has been flattened by my Big Shot (between the cutting pads on tab 2)
  • I cut the border off a doily (129399) and straightened it to form the ruffle
  • The Baroque Style background is stamped from the Layered Labels (127072) stamp set
  • Colors are Primrose Petals, Very Vanilla, and a teeny bit of Crumb Cake

Boutique Boxes Part III

I normally do all my "scrapbooking" digitally using My Digital Studio - but I couldn't help myself when I saw these little boxes in the Boutique Boxes kit:  they looked perfect for journaling cards!

I loved the neutrals paired with the bright pop of Summer Starfruit and this picture of my son's first birthday was a perfect photo - the little pops of yellow frosting from his cake make the whole page so cohesive.

This photo shows the journaling cards pulled out of the box.  I used the note cards and turned them into envelopes by using adhesive along the edges and punching a 1/2 oval at the top with the large oval punch (119855).

I used the tags in the kit and put brads in them to affix to the top of my journaling cards - so they would be easy to pull out of the box.

To make the box more like a dimensional envelop, I scored down the middle of all four sides using my Simply Scored (122334) so that it could squish down if you place it in an album.  I stamped "wishes" on the flagged label and a little birthday present from the Itty Bitties (128939) stamp set.

My "feather" quotes tie the whole theme together and are beautiful expression of my love to my son.

And, of course, a birthday page isn't complete without a cake - and wouldn't you know it?  The Make a Cake stamp set (126740) coordinates beautifully with all the elements of the Boutique Boxes kit!

Boutique Boxes Part 2

I love pairing a sharp geometric print with a soft floral - it's a beautiful dichotomy.  The flower image is stamped with the gorgeous 2-step Stippled Blossoms stamp (126747) and the border, tag, and sentiment are all in the Boutique Boxes Bundle.

I also scored a dotted line for a little more textural interest using the new Simply Scored Border Scoring Plate (126192).

Boutique Boxes:  A very versatile kit filled with elements to spark your creativity way beyond cute gift boxes (which are totally O.K. too!) And really - just buy the bundle for $13.50 - you get the kit ($7.95 purchased separately) plus the cute little wood-mounted stamp set, A Little Greeting ($7.95 purchased separately).  It's a bargain.

Boutique Boxes Part 1

Want ideas of what to buy to earn Sale-A-Bration items?  The Boutique Boxes Bundle should be on your list!  I love this kit!  This week I'm featuring projects I've made using elements from this kit and exploring all the myriad ways it can jump start your creativity.

First up is my "blank" card.  Sometimes less is more and a card without a sentiment is perfect because you can make it right for any occasion.

To make this card
  • stamp the jar image from the Perfectly Preserved stamp set (126692) on the clear window sheet (114323)
  • emboss the edge of your card using the Simply Scored Borders Scoring Plate (126192)
  • Stamp with the stem image from Perfectly Preserved or use a Stampin' Up! marker to free-hand draw the feather quills in your jar
  • Use 2-3 feathers from the Boutique Boxes kit and adhere with Stampin' Dimensionals
  • Tie a bow with the Natural 7/16" Trim Ribbon (129287) and adhere to the jar with a glue dot (this larger bow will cover up the stampin' dimensional used to adhere the jar to the card front)
  • Inside:  stamp bird image from Papaya Collage (126612) on Very Vanilla Card Stock

Designer Builder Brads

Have fun with the Designer Builder Brads!  They are a beautiful addition to cards and scrapbook pages, but also can easily be turned into magnets or jewelry.

  • Take the prongs off the back by pulling them gently straight and then bending them back a forth a few times.  This will give you a flat surface to adhere your magnet
  • Use strong adhesive (I used E6000) and 3/4" or 1/2" round magnets
  • Before the glue dries, it has a tendency to slip - so hold the brad in place for about a minute to keep it straight on the magnet

  • This set coordinates with the Itty Bitties stamp set (128939) which has 56 cute little images to make customizing your brads so much fun
  • It also coordinates with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack (118309) - so you can punch out the images and they will fit perfectly in your brad!
  • The In-color Dahlias (127556) will fit beautifully on top of your brad too!  Use a little E-6000 and add these sweet flowers.

In other news...Sale-A-Bration starts tomorrow!  That means you get your choice of one fabulous product from the Sale-A-Bration brochoure for every $50 you spend!  Check back tomorrow to see all the beautiful things you can earn through March 22, 2013!  Plus you can earn even more by hosting a party during Sale-A-Bration!  Email me for details!

Soda Pop Top Magnets

I showed a sneak peek of my message board I created using all the fun "little" stamps and embellishments in the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog.  Here's the detail on creating these adorable Soda Pop Top magnets:

  • Stamp images with Collage Curios Stamp Set (129102)
  • Punch out with 1" circle punch (119868)
  • adhere with Crystal Effect (101055) to Soda Pop Tops (129388)
  • Use 3/4" round magnets (available at many craft/hobby stores) using E6000 adhesive (also available at most craft stores)
  • You can also use flat head thumbtacks with E6000 and make custom push pins if you have a cork-type message board

Product Highlights:

Collage Curios:  Pretty vintage-inspired images that can be layered in multiple ways.  Coordinates with the 1" circle punch and Soda Pop Tops

Soda Pop Tops:  So many uses, so little time!  Make magnets, tacks, pins and hair accessories, and jewelry.   And of course, add them to embellish your cards and paper projects, too!  They're light weight enough so they won't weigh down your cards.
